What mountain are you longing to climb? I think humans tend to put things off for what they feel are obligations and oh-so-important busyness. If the pandemic has taught me anything, it is that my life was filled with really important things that I set aside without feeling any sense of loss. What I do feel a loss over are the really important things: friends and family I cannot physically be with and dreams I have been deferring. It is time for me to climb that mountain. I am querying Becoming Benny, and plotting my second and third book. I am cherishing what time I can spend with the people who matter.
Ever wonder how your dog or cat sees the world? How they make sense of it? It you think they are just stimulus-response organisms, you haven't seen my dogs when they realize you are packing your luggage. Trust me, they feel. They know. But can they imagine? I think that might be the unique domain of humans. We can imagine. Sometimes it comes out as worry about something that hasn't happened. Sometimes rehashing the past. But when it comes out as storytelling, it is magical.
Evergreens piercing low lying clouds on a late winter morning- this is bliss to me.
Everybody needs truth and grace in their lives. I have great friends that give me both. But if I want to stick to a deadline, I turn to Buttercup. She has a naturally judging mug and a forgiving heart. She likes to hang out in my office when I am writing. Mostly because there is a loveseat with her name on it. When I need a little push, she is always willing to wake up long enough to scowl at me until I write something brilliant.
